Zoning Board of Appeals

The Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) helps ensure fair and consistent application of the City’s zoning ordinances. The Board reviews requests for variances, interprets zoning regulations, and resolves disputes between property owners and the City’s zoning requirements.

Purpose & Responsibilities

The ZBA is tasked with:

  • Hearing and deciding requests for variances from zoning requirements

  • Interpreting zoning ordinances when questions or ambiguities arise

  • Ensuring decisions are consistent with the City’s Master Plan and zoning goals

  • Conducting public hearings to gather input from affected residents

Citizen Participation

ZBA meetings are open to the public, and residents are encouraged to attend hearings, provide input, or seek guidance on zoning issues. The Board’s work balances individual property rights with the broader needs of the community.
